The Yorkshire side have just completed the signing of Joel Piroe from Swansea City and are now looking to make further additions in the final third.

They have zeroed in on Genk’s attacker Paintsil, who has been the subject of interest from Southampton.

Saints wanted to swap Paul Onuachu for Paintsil, but both players were unconvinced by the swap move and it is not progressing.

Now Leeds are in and have lodged a bid worth £10m with Genk for Paintsil; the Belgians are yet to respond.

However, crucially, Paintsil has told Genk that he would favour a move to Leeds and personal terms for the player would not be a problem.

Whether the £10m proposal is enough for sway Genk into accepting it remains to be seen.

Landing Paintsil could put further question marks over the future of other attackers at Leeds, with Willy Gnonto and Luis Sinisterra having been keen to move on.
