Hendrick, 31, joined the Magpies from Burnley in 2020, but is surplus to requirements on Tyneside.
He had two loan spells during his time at Newcastle and he is now cutting a forlorn figure in Eddie Howe’s side.
Aberdeen are interested in bringing in the midfielder this summer and the Magpies outcast is also keen on accruing more minutes on the pitch.
It has been suggested in some quarters that the Dons could miss out on landing Hendrick if Championship clubs show interest in the midfield star.
And it is now claimed that the Scottish club are poised to lose their target as the Irish midfielder is going to ply his trade in the English second tier.
Hendrick has entered the final year of his contract at the Premier League outfit, however, it is still unclear which suitors are going to land him.
Now it remains to be seen how well he will fare moving forward if his move to the Championship is finalised.
