Gordon, 20, came through the youth set-up at Selhurst Park and he spent the latter half of last season on loan at Carlisle United.

The attacker contributed to the Cumbrians securing promotion last season and fared well with Crystal Palace in pre-season as well.

He joined Cambridge United on loan on deadline day and revealed that the loan move was influenced by his conversation with U’s boss Mark Bonner.

The Palace forward also stressed that he wanted to play at the Abbey Stadium this season despite other outfits being keen on him.

“I am delighted. Obviously, I had a good end to last season and a good pre-season with Palace, so I just want to get back playing and to build on last season”, Gordon told the U’s in-house media.

“This seems like the perfect club for that.

“There was other interest but after speaking to the gaffer and hearing about the way he wants to play, it is exactly how I want to play too, so I made my decision.”

Bonner’s side are aiming high this term and they are hoping to see Gordon contribute substantially to the club’s campaign going forward.
