Bentley, 30, joined the Premier League outfit from Bristol City on a two-and-a-half-year contract in the January transfer window this year.

The English shot-stopper featured in two league games for Wolves under former coach Julen Lopetegui.

But he has yet to make a first-team appearance in the Premier League this season, with new Molineux boss Gary O’Neil keeping faith in Wolves number one Jose Sa.

Bentley has opened up about a healthy fight regarding taking over the place between the sticks.

He stressed that he has a cordial relationship with Sa, but is clear everybody is determined to stake a claim for the number one spot.

I have a lot of respect for Sa.

“We get on very well and I have spent time with him away from football as well”, Bentley was quoted as saying by the Express & Star.

I have maximum respect and admiration for him and the job he has done since he has been here.

But I am sure he would say the same, he wants to keep the shirt and he does not want me to get it.

That is the healthy competition we have.

“We get on well but we push each other every single day and we all want that number one shirt.

Bentley joined Southend United’s academy from Arsenal’s youth set-up in 2008 and he is now looking forward to persuading O’Neil to give him more minutes on the pitch.
