Warnock was left unhappy with the level of backing he received at Huddersfield over the summer after leading them to survival last term.

He guided Huddersfield to a 2-0 win over Rotherham United in the Championship on Saturday, but is due to hold a press conference on Monday.

His future at Huddersfield is under the scanner, but he insists he will be in charge for Wednesday’s meeting with Stoke and is desperate to see off the Potters.

Warnock told BBC Radio Leeds post match: “Of course I will [be here for the Stoke game], I want to win.

“I want to beat Stoke, more than anything.

“There’s certain elements about Stoke that I’d like to beat if I’m honest.

“I’ll tell you when I’ve retired.”

Stoke slipped to a 1-0 defeat away at Norwich City on Saturday and sit in 18th in the Championship table, one point behind Huddersfield.

The last meeting between the two clubs last season saw Stoke run out 3-0 winners in the Potteries.
