The 21-year-old winger was brought in during the winter transfer window by Southampton, in an attempt to help them stay up in the Premier League.

This season, Sulemana has featured only two times for Saints and on Tuesday, coming off the bench against Ipswich Town, he failed to impress.

Tessem pointed out that Sulemana was slow when receiving the ball and added that the winger needs to be more quick and forward-thinking while on the pitch.

The ex-Saints star also added that the Ghanaian international needs to come to the realisation soon that he has to start doing the correct things instead of standing still and doing a few stepovers.

“Sulemana also needs to kind of get himself a little bit on the pitch and realise that ‘I am on the pitch now; I need to be running; I need to be doing things that are correct instead of standing still and doing a few stepovers'”, Tessem said on BBC Radio Solent.

It does not take you anywhere.

“I understand he is so slow that when he gets the ball, he has to beat three players, which you cannot expect him to do every time.

“You’ve got to be quick-forward-playing.”

Sulemana has featured a total of 20 times for Southampton so far and has scored two goals while laying on one assist.
