The 27-year-old Tottenham Hotspur academy product joined Leicester in the recently closed summer transfer window, signing a three-year deal.

Winks has started all seven league games for Leicester so far this season and has impressed with his performances.

Nugent believes that the defensive midfielder is number one on Maresca’s teamsheet and added that Winks is pivotal to the Leicester manager’s plans.

He also stressed that Winks is the link between Leicester’s midfield and defence and pointed out that the player often sets up the Foxes attack.

“Enzo trusts him; he has played every game”, Nugent said on BBC Radio Leicester.

“I do not think you will see Harry Winks coming out of the team.

“I think he is pivotal to this squad and he showed he is a link between defence and midfield.

“When he gets half-turned and plays the ball forward, it sets the attack often.

“He is vital to the way Enzo wants to play and he is like number one on the teamsheet every week.”

On Wednesday, Leicester managed to beat Norwich 2-0 and Winks played an important part in the Foxes victory.
