The 17-year-old centre-back is a product of Norwich City’s academy and last season featured 17 times for the Canaries youth side in the Under-18 Premier League.

This season, Renecke has featured regularly for Norwich City in the Premier League 2 and he has racked up four South Africa Under-17 caps.

Renecke stated that while growing up, he used to love how Ronaldinho played, but later, as he moved to the centre-back position, he started admiring Liverpool’s Van Dijk.

The Norwich youngster added that Van Dijk is a brilliant player and stressed that he tries to mould his game by learning from the Liverpool defender.

“At first, I loved Ronaldinho”, Renecke told Norwich City’s official site.

“I loved the way he played, and he was just exciting to watch.

“As I moved into my position, I’d always look at Virgil van Dijk.

“Everything he does is just brilliant, and I always tried to take things that he did and implement it into my own game.”

Renecke is highly rated at Carrow Road and he will be determined to break into David Wagner’s first team at some point.
