A 2-1 defeat against German side Eintracht Frankfurt in the first match of their Europa Conference League campaign means that Barry Robson’s side are under pressure from the very outset.
In the present context, the match against the Finnish champions has turned out to be an all-important one.
Ahead of tonight’s visit to Scotland, the manager of the Finnish team took time to assess the strengths of their opponents.
According to Korkeakunnas, Aberdeen play in a direct way and make their physical attributes count.
The HJK Helsinki boss also insists that the Dons are able to change the way they play depending on the opponents and he is not sure how they will classify his team.
“Aberdeen play physical, so-called vertical football, a team that is very mobile and competitive”, Korkeakunnas was quoted as saying by his club’s official website.
“Their biggest weapon is clearly their strength in dealing with special situations and situational play.
“They have a clear and straightforward way of attacking, and when defending they don’t worry about being in a low block and attacking with a change of situation.
“Aberdeen have a clear DNA in their play.
“Aberdeen have varied their shape and game plan a bit depending on whether the opponent is weaker or stronger.
“I don’t know which one they categorise us as, but we are prepared for both options.”
Aberdeen have shown a hint of form recently, winning their last three games in all competitions, a run that has included beating Rangers.
