The Canaries brought in a host of new faces to Carrow Road this summer to strengthen their squad to get back in the Premier League.

However, after winning one game out of the last eight, a large part of the Norwich fanbase is calling for David Wagner’s removal from the managerial seat.

Downs believes that appointing a new manager would see a turn of form in the next few games, but the overall performance will not change as the players will stay the same.

The former Norwich star thinks that half of the squad is not good enough and stressed that the Canaries need to stop being a nice team and become a nasty team.

“What happens when you get a new manager is that you get an upturn for two to three games, and then it all goes down to what it is because the bottom line is that players are what they are”, Downs said on BBC Radio Norfolk

“Unfortunately, half of those players, they are not good enough.

“It is a fact that the way we played, we are what we called a nice team.

“We pass the ball nicely, but we do not hurt teams; we do not get behind teams.

“We are not nasty enough at times.”

Norwich are sitting 14th in the league table with 17 points from 13 games and all eyes will be on Wagner to see whether he can turn the situation around.
