The Gas sacked Joey Barton as boss last month after a series of mixed results in League One.

Mangan has been appointed as the interim boss until a suitable candidate is found for the managerial role and the 37-year-old has won his first two matches as well.

His side will be facing Reading in League One on Tuesday and Mangan insisted that the team are travelling to the Madejski Stadium with confidence.

The Gas will be backed by thousands of fans away at Reading and Mangan insists that in terms of the sheer numbers, the following is Premier League level.

“We cannot wait for Tuesday obviously as you can imagine”, Mangan told the Pirates’ media about his side facing Reading.

“The 3,000 fans, that’s Premier League following.

“So, we need to give them something to shout about, something to celebrate.

“I think sharing the minutes out today with all the players and everyone has now had a knock.

“We are going into Tuesday really, really confident.

“Everyone is fit and we are getting bodies back.

“So, really good signs for the rest of the season.”

Now it remains to be seen if Mangan’s side will reward their travelling fans with all three points against bottom of the table Reading.
