Pompey have been on a roll this season, currently occupying top spot in League One, enjoying a three-point lead over second-placed Oxford United.

They had to come away empty-handed from the FA Cup at the weekend though, losing 1-0 to Chesterfield in the first round of the tournament.

In spite of that, Mousinho is happy with what he has got, insisting that there is no particular requirement at the moment after having actively recruited over the course of the summer.

In case of an injury or the sudden availability of a player, the scenario could change, Mousinho added.

“No, nothing at the moment in terms of the positions to coming in to strengthen the squad in terms of the quality we have got there”, Mousinho told BBC Radio Solent.

“What we will probably do is just monitor injuries more than anything going into January.

“Because we are doing so well in the league it does not feel like we need to push the button on anything.

“That is part of the reason we built as we built in the summer.

“There is always going to be something that pops up and if we think that is going to strengthen the squad and if we think that is going to make us better then by all means we will go ahead and do that.

“But there is not a huge amount of space available in the squad at the moment I think.

“What we want to do is keep that squad balance, we do not have too many people there.

“At the minute it is quite hard to see if there are any outgoings amongst the lads we have in.

“So, we are just going to remain flexible and cover ourselves when we do look into recruitment in all positions because you never know what is around the corner and yesterday was a perfect example of that.”

Portsmouth were one of the most active League One clubs in the market in the summer, spending heavily to restock their squad in order to fully equip Mousinho for the promotion challenge.
