The 25-year-old full-back joined Pompey in January of last year and played 20 all-competition games for Mousinho’s side last term.

This season however Connor Ogilvie and Jack Sparkles have become Mousinho’s go-to options for the left-back position.

And Hume has been completely out of favour at Fratton Park and made his first appearance for them in the last seven months against Leyton Orient in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday due to Ogilvie’s injury.

Mousinho admitted that even though Hume’s situation is not ideal at the club currently, the former Sunderland man shows a really positive attitude and work rate in training sessions.

”The situation at the football club at the moment isn’t ideal for him, we’ve made no bones about that, but he gets his head down and trains hard”, Mousinho told The News about Hume.

“When we have a session on match-days, he comes in with lads that aren’t in the squad, he does his running, he’s right up there, and has a really good attitude towards everything that he does.”

Hume’s next opportunity to leave Portsmouth will come in the approaching January transfer window.
