The 29-year-old midfielder has been impressive under Rohl and played a key role in helping Sheffield Wednesday earn their first win against Rotherham United.

However, Windass missed the away trip to Bristol City after he received an injury in a training session ahead of last weekend’s game.

Rohl stated that Windass is a great player and praised him for his excellent movement between the lines, which give opposition defenders a hard time.

The Sheffield Wednesday boss stressed that Friday’s training session will be important for Windass and stated that he will decide on Saturday whether the player is ready for the weekend’s fixture.

“Josh is a great player and has good movement between the lines, it is difficult to catch him”, Rohl said at a press conference.

“It is important first he is ready for tomorrow’s training and if the feedback is good then we will decide for Saturday.”

Last season, Windass played a crucial role in helping the Owls get promoted to the Championship and it remains to be seen whether he will be able to keep them up in the division.
