The Addicks have managed to bounce back under their new manager Michael Appleton after a disappointing start to the campaign.

Charlton have managed to pick up 15 points from their last nine games and are five points short of the last playoff place, with a game in hand over Stevenage.

May, who has been in incredible form in front of goal since Appleton’s arrival at the Valley, revealed that he has set himself personal targets and stressed that the important thing is to keep scoring goals to help Charlton pick up more points.

He stated that currently Charlton are nowhere near where the whole squad want the club to be and stressed that their goal is to get to the top of the League One table.

“I just want to keep going”, May told the South London Press.

“I set myself personal targets and at the moment I’m a bit ahead of where I should be, which is a good thing.

“The most important thing is to keep chipping away at goals and picking up points for the club – we’re nowhere near where we want to be.

“We want to be at the top end of the table, so it is important we keep going.”

Charlton are set to take on Portsmouth at the weekend at Fratton Park, a place where the Addicks are unbeaten in their last seven competitive fixtures.
