Brownhill joined Burnley in the winter of 2020 from Bristol City on a four-and-a half year contract with an option to extend.

The 27-year-old midfielder featured regularly for Burnley last season and helped them get back in the Premier League by scoring seven goals and assisting eight times in 41 games.

Despite Burnley’s disappointing start to the season, Brownhill’s performances have attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, including Wolves and West Ham.

The midfielder contract is to expire at the end of June 2024 and Wolves and West Ham are closely monitoring his situation.

It has been claimed that Burnley boss Vincent Kompany wants to keep Brownhill at the club and the Clarets are set to activate a one-year extension to his contract.

Brownhill has been a regular this season for Burnley and has captained the side on several occasions.

The midfielder has become a fan favourite at Turf Moor and it remains to be seen whether he will be able to help Burnley stay up in the Premier League this season.

All eyes will be on whether Wolves and West Ham cool their interest if the extension is activated.
