Onuachu left Saints this summer following their relegation from the top flight and completed a season-long loan move to Turkish outfit Trabzonspor.

He has been in red-hot form for the Turkish side as he has already registered seven-goal contributions in his first nine games, including a vital one against Fenerbahce which helped him bag a big bonus.

Utaka insisted that the 29-year-old goal-getter is a very good striker and stressed that he is also technically very adept.

The former Championship star believes that Onuachu is good enough to score 25 goals or more this season for the Burgundy Blues.

“Paul Onuachu is a prolific goalscorer and a very good centre forward”, Utaka told Turkish daily Hurriyet about the Saints loanee.

“I think he will have a big impact at Trabzonspor.

“Six goals in eight games shows that he is a quality striker and has superior performances.

“He is technically very good and has great potential.

“Paul Onuachu can score at least 25 goals this season.

“I was a striker myself, so I know a very good striker when I see one.”

Southampton are bidding to bounce straight back up to the Premier League this season and if Onuachu continues to shine in Turkey, Russell Martin may be tempted to take a look at him in pre-season.
