Carlos Corberan’s men are sitting seventh in the Championship league table and Robinson feels the Baggies boss is doing a good job with the amount of money he is allowed to spend.

Robinson insisted that the squad is thin at the moment as the likes of Daryl Dike, John Swift and Josh Maja are out injured.

Gardner-Hickman, 21, was sent out on loan to Bristol City in the summer and he has featured 13 times for the Robins already.

Robinson feels that Gardner-Hickman is a very good squad player and finds the decision to let him leave on loan strange.

“I think at this moment in time he’s done a great job, especially with the limited funds he’s had to work with”, Robinson told the Express & Star.

“The squad is down to the bare bones, he’s had to let players go – good players in my eyes, like Taylor Gardner-Hickman, good footballers who you’d keep as squad players, I found that strange.”

Bristol City secured an option to buy in Gardner-Hickman’s loan deal and the defender may not return to the Hawthorns next summer.
