The Rams have now moved up to sixth position in the League One table with 33 points from the first 18 matches of the season.

Now they have won four of their last five league matches and Barker is of the view that Warne’s men are getting their deserved winning results.

The former Rams defender insisted that Derby’s squad is one of their biggest advantages in the league and he is clear that the players need to stay fit.

Barker believes that Warne can start or bench any player he wants to and he stressed that the quality of the Rams squad allows him to do that.

“I have said from the start that we have got a very competitive squad, a big squad of good players”, Barker told Rams TV about Derby County’s squad strength.

“And I always felt that, when injuries came, the players got back from injury, when there was consistency within the team, the amount of players that the manager got to choose from and the quality of the players in each different position at this period onwards, if you keep everyone fit, it is going to be a real strength.

“And we are seeing that at the moment.

“He can bring a player in or out, if he wants to rest someone, he can.

“Because the quality of the player coming into pitch whether it’s starting, whether it’s the last 20, 30 minutes, they have got that quality to make that impact.

“So, we are starting to see it all kind of work together and mould exactly how the manager wanted.

“It took a little bit longer because of injuries and obviously just players settling in the way you wanted to but we’re looking at a team that’s full of confidence, full of belief and getting the results that they deserve.”

Now it remains to be seen if Warne’s side will be able to show their squad depth on Wednesday when they face Fleetwood Town in the EFL Trophy.
