Barry Robson’s side have found wins hard to come by this season and currently find themselves just above the drop zone in the league.
They are winless in their last five games in all competitions but have a big cup final against Rangers to look up to.
Following their 1-0 win over Hibernian in the semi-final of the Scottish League Cup, Robson’s side have a big match coming up on 17th December.
Miller believes that if Aberdeen manage to beat Rangers and win that trophy and also notch up a few wins in the Premiership to get into the top six, it will still be a positive end to the year for the club.
“Whatever league position Aberdeen are in at the turn of the year will show us where the team are going”, Miller wrote in his column for the Press and Journal.
“It will indicate whether it will be a positive season or not.
“Of course, the Dons also have the Viaplay Cup final against Rangers on December 17.
“It could be a sensational end to the year if the Reds win a trophy and rack up wins to move back into the top six.
“That will be the target: to secure silverware and be in the top six by the turn of the year.”
Aberdeen’s progression to the final of the Scottish League Cup has help to keep the pressure off boss Robson for now.
