The 33-year-old goalkeeper joined Ipswich in the summer of 2021 from Salford City but failed to establish himself in the first team in his first two seasons at Portman Road.
This season, Hladky has performed brilliantly in the absence of Christian Walton and has registered seven clean sheets in 20 league games for the Blues.
Mathie pointed out that Hladky was not the same player that he is now when he joined the club and stated that he previously failed to perform because he was in a poor Ipswich side.
Now the ex-Blues star believes that the goalkeeper is oozing confidence as Kieran McKenna’s side have managed to help him.
“It is amazing what confidence does”, Mathie told BBC Radio Suffolk.
“Really, it is what confidence gives you as a player on that pitch because his confidence, he just oozes now.
“When he first came into the team he did not look that same player that he is now, but that is because he was in a bad team.
“This team give him confidence and you would not swap him just now.”
Ipswich are second in the league table and McKenna will be hoping that Hladky is able to continue his form to help them win promotion this season.
