Portsmouth secured a 2-0 victory over second-place Bolton Wanderers on Monday with the help of goals from Conor Shaughnessy and Kusini Yengi.

Pompey have now extended their lead over Bolton to six points with their win over Ian Evatt’s side and they will next travel to Croud Meadow to face Shrewsbury Town.

Mousinho admitted that the win over Bolton is a big one and stated that fans have the right to get carried away with the win, but the players are not allowed to do so.

He reminded the Portsmouth players that Shrewsbury are a good side and stressed that he is expecting a tough challenge on Saturday.

When asked about the magnitude of the victory over Bolton, Mousinho told Portsmouth’s media: “I think a pretty big one for the next couple of days, but then it is done.

“We are then going to go away to Shrewsbury and it is going to be a tough game.

“I saw them at Wycombe on Saturday, good side.

“I know it sounds a bit boring because we cannot get too carried away with what we have done tonight, but yes, we will let everyone else in the outside world get carried away with that.

“We have work to do; we are going to come in tomorrow, a bit boring for the lads, we will come in tomorrow and review everything we have done tonight and then go again on Saturday.

“We need another really big performance.”

Last season, Portsmouth drew both home and away games against Shrewsbury and Pompey will be determined to maintain the winning momentum by registering their fourth win in a row at weekend.
