Aston Villa have won a staggering 15 games on the trot at home and the Scotland international has been one of the architects of Unai Emery’s brilliant team.
He scored the only goal in Aston Villa’s 1-0 win over Arsenal at the weekend and Stephen conceded that it is now getting a bit easy to get used to what John has been doing in midfield for the Midlands club.
The former Scottish Premiership star admitted that in some moments the midfielder’s performances have left everyone awestruck.
Stephen said on the Go Radio Football Show: “You get used to what John is doing, you take it for granted but you shouldn’t be.
“There are moments that just happen and you just got wow!
“Last week was just wow and him scoring the winner.”
John has scored four times in 16 Premier League appearances in the ongoing campaign and, like Stephen, turned out for Hibernian during his time in Scottish football.
