On Tuesday, the Baggies managed to bounce back from two straight defeats against Rotherham United and secure a 2-0 victory over the Millers.

West Brom are fifth in the Championship table with 35 points from 21 games and they are currently 14 points off the last automatic promotion spot, held by Leicester City.

Clarke is of the view that West Brom will not be able to finish in the top two as he believes that the Baggies are not good enough when it comes to putting the ball in the back of the net.

However, Clarke stated that he would be surprised if West Brom missed out on the playoffs, as he thinks that Carlos Corberan’s side are good enough to grind out wins to finish in the top six.

“I would be staggered if West Brom are not in the playoffs”, Clarke said on the What the EFL podcast.

“They will not get automatic.

“I do not think they will score enough goals.

“But they will avoid defeat more than a lot of teams around them from now to end of the season.

“They will grind out results and I would be surprised if they are not in positions three to six.”

West Brom are set to face Stoke City on Sunday and will be determined to secure two wins in a row as they look to reel in the top two.
