Cooper has been close to the sack for some time with owner Evangelos Marinakis increasingly losing patience with him due to a harrowing run of form.

Nottingham Forest are sitting just above the relegation zone in 17th following a run of just one win in 13 games with five defeats in their last six fixtures.

The club have finally decided to act following their 2-0 defeat to Tottenham and the decision has been made to remove Cooper.

It has been claimed that former Wolves and Spurs boss Nuno is in line to replace the Welshman at the City Ground.

He is in advanced talks with Nottingham Forest to become their next manager and is slated to arrive at the Midlands club soon.

The Portuguese has been without a job since leaving Al-Ittihad last month and has been to return to the Premier League.

Nottingham Forest also held talks with former Eintracht Frankfurt boss Oliver Glasner and he was keen on the job as well.

However, it has been suggested that Marinakis’ preference is for Nuno who has experience of managing in the Premier League.
