FC Groningen CEO Wouter Gudde has claimed that he is not aware of any deal that would see Kevin van Veen join Rangers in the January transfer window.

Van Veen joined the Dutch outfit from Motherwell last summer and has scored five times in 14 league appearances for the club in the second tier of Dutch football.

There are claims that a deal is in place for the forward to move back to Scotland with Rangers on loan with the Glasgow giants having an option to buy.

There were suggestions that Van Veen is already in Glasgow and he will soon undergo a medical ahead of joining Rangers.

However, Gudde poured cold water over the switch talk and insists that he is not aware of any offer for the striker to leave Groningen in the January transfer window.

He told RTV Noord when asked about Van Veen potentially joining Rangers in the winter window: “It’s not true and I’ve heard nothing.”

Philippe Clement is expected to try and strengthen his Rangers squad in the January transfer window.

Signing a forward is believed to be one of the priorities for the Rangers boss wants to push his side to chase the title in the second half of the season.
