Juventus would prefer to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg over Manchester City man Kalvin Phillips in January.

Phillips has been on Juventus’ radar for several months and the club have held talks with Manchester City over signing him on loan.

However, Newcastle, Everton and Liverpool are also interested in him and signing him from Manchester City would represent an expensive operation.

Juventus are not in a position to meet the costs of a potential loan deal for Phillips and it has been claimed they have a new preferred target.

According to Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset (via Tutto Juve), Hojbjerg is now the preferred midfield target for Juventus.

The Dane has been heavily linked with a move away from Tottenham in January and he has only been a bit part player at the club this season.

Juventus are interested in signing him on loan but are only prepared to offer an option to buy in any potential deal.

Tottenham would prefer to let him go on loan with a mandatory purchase option around the €25m to €30m mark.
