John Eustace would be open to the possibility of a return to Birmingham City but the club are focused on other targets, according to Sky Sports News.

Birmingham sacked Wayne Rooney on Tuesday morning after a harrowing run of form, which saw them tumble down the league table.

Their decision to get rid of Eustace three months ago when the club were sitting sixth in the Championship standings shocked many.

Rooney struggled to get the team going and Birmingham are now sitting 20th in the league table.

However, it has been claimed that Eustace is open to the potential of returning to St. Andrew’s as their manager.

He has no hard feelings towards the club and would be keen to hold talks with the same board who sacked him.

Eustace retains support inside the dressing room and the fans who felt that his sacking was unjust.

However, for the moment, the board are not warming up to the idea of getting the former manager back.

They are focused on other managerial targets as they look to sort out an appointment as soon as possible.
