West Ham United target Eric Dier continues remain an option for Serie A giants Roma in the ongoing transfer window, according to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira.

Dier has six months left on his Spurs contract and the defender will not be offered a new deal by the north London club; he is eyeing leaving as a free agent.

With Tottenham closing in on a deal to sign Radu Dragusin from Genoa, the club could make an effort to shift Dier out this month.

West Ham are keeping a close eye on Dier, amid interest from Saudi Arabia in Nayef Aguerd along with the likely exit of Thilo Kehrer, and could try to take him to the London Stadium.

However, if the Hammers do move for Dier then they could well have to deal with competition from Roma.

Jose Mourinho wants to sign a centre-back in the ongoing transfer window but the Roma hierarchy blocked a deal to sign veteran defender Leonardo Bonucci recently.

Roma are considering several defenders and Dier is a player Mourinho is keen on signing.

The Serie A giants are considering making a swoop to take the Spurs defender to the Stadio Olimpico this month.
