Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is currently outside the financial parameters that Napoli have to do a deal.

The Serie A champions would like to sign Hojbjerg during this month’s transfer window and Tottenham are prepared to play ball if the conditions suit them.

Spurs would loan out the midfielder, but want a mandatory purchase clause, meaning his exit would effectively be permanent.

Napoli prefer a loan with an option to buy in the event he impresses in Italian football.

To meet Tottenham’s demands, Napoli would have to agree to pay €28m for Hojbjerg when the loan ends and also commit to the player’s substantial salary.

That, according to Italian outlet Arena Napoli, puts Hojbjerg currently outside Napoli’s financial parameters.

Napoli need Tottenham to have a change of heart and compromise to make a move for Hojbjerg a realistic prospect this month.

The Dane is the main player they want for midfield though, as he fits the profile they are looking for.

If Hojbjerg leaves Spurs in this month’s window, boss Ange Postecoglou is tipped to want to replace him.
