Portsmouth are less confident in their chances of signing Ipswich Town star George Edmundson in this month’s window, according to the BBC.

The 26-year-old centre-back joined Ipswich from Scottish giants Rangers in the summer of 2021 and helped the Tractor Boys earn promotion last term.

This season, Edmundson has featured only six times in all competitions for Kieran McKenna’s side.

Edmundson is drawing interest from League One outfit Portsmouth, who are determined to earn promotion this season.

And it was suggested that Pompey have enquired with Ipswich about Edmundson’s availability in the January transfer window.

Ipswich, who are second in the Championship, are in the market to provide depth to their squad and prioritise bringing in a striker.

It has been claimed that although Edmundson is high on John Mousinho’s January transfer wish list, Portsmouth are less confident in landing the centre-back.

Edmundson has one and a half years left on his Ipswich contract and all eyes will be on Pompey to see whether they can convince the Tractor Boys to part with the player.
