Derby County are likely to leave it late in the transfer window with their pursuit of Sheffield United midfielder Ollie Arblaster, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Arblaster has been recalled from a loan at Port Vale as Blades boss Chris Wilder considers what to do with him.

Wilder could conclude that another temporary stint away from Bramall Lane would suit the midfielder and if they do then Derby are keen.

Arblaster though is looking at being sidelined for up to a month and as such, Derby will have to leave any swoop until late in the window to check how his recovery is progressing.

He clocked 20 appearances in League One for Port Vale during the course of his loan stint.

Derby also got an up close look at Arblaster when they took on Vale in late November, a game the Rams won 1-0.

The Pride Park outfit will now watch closely to see what Wilder signals he wants to do with the Sheffield United midfielder.

Arblaster has made a total of five senior appearances for the Blades, but could struggle to add to that consistently in the Premier League.
