Sunderland could potentially pay big wages to land a striker on a loan deal this month, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

The Black Cats have had issues with the amount of goals their attackers have been contributing and have failed to effectively replace Ross Stewart in the squad.

They could be in the market to add to Michael Beale’s attacking options this month though, with Bournemouth’s Kieffer Moore mooted as a possible target.

Moore earns a whopping £40,000 per week at Bournemouth though and any loan move would likely need to see a club make a big contribution.

It has been questioned whether Sunderland would be willing to pay big wages to a loan arrival.

However, the Black Cats could potentially commit to a big pay packet for a half-season loan.

A new arrival could help Sunderland to further push their playoff hopes as they aim to challenge for promotion to the Premier League.

Sunderland currently sit in the final playoff spot in the Championship standings but are just one point ahead of seventh placed Hull City.
