Hull City remain firmly in the race to sign Manuel Benson from Burnley in January despite interest from fellow Championship outfit Southampton, according to the Hull Daily Mail.

The Belgian winger was impressive for Burnley in the Championship last season, finishing with 12 goals in the competition and helping the Clarets earn promotion to the top flight.

This season though, Benson has found his chances limited in the Premier League and has only 73 top tier minutes under his belt.

He has therefore been linked with a move away from Turf Moor in search of regular first-team minutes.

Southampton have kept tabs on the player in order to take him to St Mary’s Stadium.

Hull City have also been keen and remain firmly in the race to sign the player this month.

Tigers manager Liam Rosenior is willing to wait patiently until he gets his hands on his targets this month.

They are in the race for promotion, finding themselves seventh in the league table, one point off playoff contenders Sunderland.
