Steven Gerrard has discussed raiding former clubs Aston Villa and Liverpool for two players in the next summer transfer window, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

Gerrard has been experiencing a difficult time at Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq following a bright start with the club; the side currently sit eighth in the Saudi Pro League, not having won since October.

He is planning for the future though and already has an eye towards the business the club will conduct in the summer transfer window.

Gerrard held a three-hour recruitment meeting during which swoops for Aston Villa’s Bertrand Traore and Liverpool’s Joel Matip were discussed.

The pair are firmly on Al-Ettifaq’s radar for the summer transfer window.

Former Rangers winger Ryan Kent, who is currently on the books at Turkish side Fenerbahce, is a target for this month’s transfer window.

Gerrard and his key ally Mark Allen are set to speak to Jordan Henderson next week, amid the midfielder wanting to leave the club.

Henderson is keen to move on from Al-Ettifaq after failing to settle in Saudi football, but the club have yet to receive any offers for him.

Ajax are keen on Henderson.
