Burnley have assured Dundee that Michael Mellon will only join the Dark Blues if they decide to send him on loan to Scotland, according to the Daily Record.

The 20-year-old Clarets forward decided to join Morecambe on a season-long loan and scored 15 times in all competitions for the League Two outfit.

Burnley have decided to recall Mellon and extend his stay with the Turf Moor outfit before sending him back on loan for the rest of the season.

Mellon’s form has attracted several suitors and Ross County and Dundee are among them.

Burnley have yet to make up their mind on where they want to send the player on loan to continue his development.

Dundee are seventh in the Scottish Premiership and their boss Tony Docherty is an admirer of Mellon’s talents.

However, it has been claimed that the Clarets have assured Dundee that they will only send Mellon to the Dark Blues if they decide on sending the young striker to Scotland.

It has been suggested that Mellon has no shortage of suitors in English football and it remains to be seen where his destination will be for the rest of the season.
