Atalanta are set to hold a new round of talks with Birmingham City over Jordan James at the start of next week.

James has been tipped to move on during this month’s transfer window and Atalanta want to take him to Serie A.

The Wales international came through the academy set-up at Birmingham, but he is ready to leave Blues and wants to join Atalanta.

Atalanta are pushing to sign the 19-year-old midfielder and, according to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, they will get in touch with Birmingham again next week.

The Italian side will look to make progress in talks to bring James to Italy.

At present Atalanta are focused on shifting deadwood from their squad rather than adding to it.

The club though want to sign Birmingham midfielder James and will make a real effort to get an agreement with the Championship side over the line.

James is keen to make the switch to Italy with Atalanta and is pushing for the transfer to take place.
