Celtic have yet to establish contact with Estoril for the signature of Portuguese left-back Tiago Araujo.

The 22-year-old came through the Benfica academy and joined Estoril on a free transfer in the summer of 2022.

This season, Araujo has established himself as the first-choice left-back for his side and has featured in all 16 league games for the Portuguese outfit so far.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers wants to reshuffle his squad in the ongoing window and left-back is a position he wants to beef up.

Araujo’s performances this season have garnered interest from Celtic and Rodgers wants to provide competition for Greg Taylor by adding him to the squad.

Despite the Hoops being interested in the left-back, according to Portuguese daily O Jogo, Celtic have not contacted Estoril regarding a deal for Araujo.

And Estoril are not in any mood to let the defender go for under their valuation.

The Portuguese side, who only own 50 per cent of the player’s rights with the other 50 per cent with Benfica, would want at least €4m.

Araujo has one and a half years left on his contract with the Portuguese outfit and it remains to be seen whether Celtic will step up their interest in him in the coming days.
