Bundesliga club Wolfsburg are out of the race to sign Crystal Palace and Wolves target Hugo Ekitike in the ongoing winter transfer window.

Ekitike has been left out in the cold by Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique since a cameo appearance from the bench on the first day of the season.

He is not part of the Spaniard’s plans and PSG are ready to sanction an exit from the club before the end of the month.

Crystal Palace and Wolves have their eyes on him but the forward has also been heavily linked with a move to Germany.

Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt have been in talks with the player and his representatives but according to Sky Deutschland (via Fussball Transfers), one of the German clubs are no longer trying to sign him.

It has been claimed that Wolfsburg have bowed out of the race to sign the 21-year-old striker this month.

The German club feel meeting Ekitike’s wage demands is an insurmountable issue at this stage.

Eintracht Frankfurt are still in the race for him and they have been left impressed following conversations with the striker.

However, even they are not in a position to meet Ekitike’s wage demands and are hoping to reach some sort of compromise.
