Manuel Benson wants to swap Burnley for Southampton in this month’s transfer window, amid Saints making a new offer for him.

Russell Martin’s side are keen to snap up the winger to add to their attacking options, but doing a deal with Burnley has been tough.

Saints have already failed with one proposal, but they have now gone back in with a fresh bid.

The offer on the table is an improved offer, according to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, and is a loan with an option to buy.

It is claimed that Clarets winger Benson wants to make the move to Southampton.

And Saints are determined to do all they can to reach an agreement to take Benson to the south coast.

Southampton are putting in a strong push for promotion to the Premier League and sit in third spot in the Championship standings.

They have just two more games before the January transfer window closes and will face Swansea City in the Championship and Watford in the FA Cup.
