Celtic have joined Anderlecht and Gent in the hunt for Icelandic goalkeeper Hakon Valdimarsson.

The 22-year-old shot-stopper is currently on the books at Swedish side Elfsborg and his performances in the Allsvenskan have drawn attention.

Valdimarsson kept an impressive 14 clean sheets in the Allsvenskan this year and clubs have taken notice of his exploits.

Belgian pair Anderlecht and Gent are keen on scooping up the Iceland international goalkeeper, but now they have company in the form of Celtic.

According to Icelandic football podcast the Dr Football Podcast, Celtic are now keen on Valdimarsson.

It is suggested that Celtic would need to fork out €2.5m to be able to sign the goalkeeper.

Valdimarsson came through the youth ranks at Icelandic side Grotta before he was spotted by Elfsborg and headed to Sweden in 2021.

Elfsborg will likely be reluctant to lose the services of the goalkeeper, but if Anderlecht, Celtic and Gent compete for Valdimarsson could realise a substantial fee.
