Birmingham City boss Tony Mowbray is of the view that Ipswich Town target and Fulham loanee Jay Stansfield wants to stay with Blues and continue his form in front of goal.
The 21-year-old centre forward joined Birmingham on loan from Fulham and his goalscoring abilities have attracted interest from Ipswich Town.
It has been revealed that Stansfield has a clause in his contract whereby Fulham can recall him from Birmingham.
New Birmingham boss Mowbray admitted that he is trying to get hold of Marco Silva to talk regarding the Ipswich target’s future and insisted that Stansfield loves playing for Blues.
Mowbray also revealed that he had a one-on-one conversation with the Fulham loanee and he is of the impression that Stansfield wants to stay with Birmingham.
“I have been trying to get hold of Marco the last couple of days”, Mowbray was quoted as saying by Birmingham Live.
“I get on well with Marco Silva and I’m pretty sure he would have been telling me if there were any issues or problems.
“I think the kid loves it here, ultimately. I’ve had a one-on-one with him and looked him in the eye.
“There are other interested parties, I think he wants to stay here and score goals.
“He likes the dressing room, he likes the players.”
On Tuesday, Stansfield scored his eighth goal of the season in Birmingham City’s 2-1 victory over Hull City in the FA Cup.
