Bristol Rovers have failed with an offer to Grimsby Town for Sierra Leone international Kamil Conteh, according to the Daily Mirror.

Grimsby signed the 21-year-old midfielder from Championship club Middlesbrough in the summer.

Conteh quickly established himself in the team at Grimsby and has made 24 league appearances for the club so far.

Bristol Rovers, under Matt Taylor, have taken notice of the Sierra Leone international’s displays in a physically demanding League Two.

And the Gas boss has sanctioned an attempt to land the 21-year-old Grimsby man.

Taylor has a central midfielder on his agenda and Grimsby’s Conteh is high up on his list.

However, Grimsby have knocked back Bristol Rovers’ bid for the former Middlesbrough midfielder.

Grimsby are reluctant to let the 21-year-old midfielder leave this month and it has been suggested that Bristol Rovers are also set to face competition from an unnamed club for Conteh’s signature.
