Newcastle United have Denmark international and Bournemouth star Philip Billing on their transfer radar, according to the Daily Mail.

The Magpies have seen their midfield options drastically reduced in recent months and have Sandro Tonali banned for breaches of betting rules and Joelinton sidelined until the summer.

Joelinton currently has just 18 months on his Newcastle deal and discussions between club and player has seen them both well apart on the terms needed for a renewal.

Newcastle are thinking about who they could bring in to replace Joelinton if needed and Denmark international Billing is on that list.

Billing has impressed in the Premier League with Eddie Howe’s former club Bournemouth.

He is rated at St James’ Park and Newcastle could make a move to try to tempt him to the north east.

It was Howe who signed Billing for Bournemouth when the Cherries forked out £15m to take him from Huddersfield Town in 2019.

The Dane has flourished on the south coast and is a key man for Bournemouth, again showing his qualities in the current campaign.
