Jamaal Lascelles’ agents are keeping quiet about the Newcastle United defender being linked with Besiktas, according to the Chronicle.

The centre-back was linked with Besiktas in the last summer transfer window, but stayed at St James’ Park and Eddie Howe has leant on him amid defensive injuries.

However, with Newcastle looking to trim their squad to make space for new arrivals, Lascelles has again been linked with the Turkish giants.

It is suggested that a bid is ready to take Lascelles to Turkey.

But Lascelles’ representatives are keeping quiet on the situation and have yet to comment on the transfer link.

While moving on Lascelles would create extra space for Newcastle to add to the squad, it would also be a big blow to Howe’s defensive depth.

Lascelles has made 14 appearances in the Premier League for the Magpies so far this season, going into the referee’s notebook four times.

He last featured for Newcastle in the Premier League in their 4-2 loss at Anfield against Liverpool.
