Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has made it clear to Joelinton that he wants him to be a big part of the club’s future despite rumours of an exit in the summer, according to the Chronicle.

Joelinton has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to an injury and there are suggestions that he could have played his last game in Newcastle colours.

He has 18 months left on his contract and talks between the club and player have failed to progress with the two parties far apart.

The Brazilian could be sold in the summer to ease some of the club’s financial constraints, but Howe wants to keep him at the club.

It has been claimed that the Newcastle boss has assured the player that he wants him to be a massive part of the club’s future.

He would still have to agree to sign a new contract to stay on at St. James’ Park beyond next summer.

Talks over a new contract have been complicated by the midfielder’s injury but Newcastle are hopeful of reaching an agreement.

Newcastle have a figure in mind for Joelinton’s new deal and believe Bruno Guimaraes’ new contract should play a part in convincing his Brazilian team-mate to sign on fresh terms.

However, given Newcastle’s situation every player has a price and Joelinton could be sold if he does not sign a new contract.
