Ipswich Town are no longer interested in signing Blackburn Rovers striker Sam Gallagher this month, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Kieran McKenna wants to add more firepower to his squad in the winter transfer window as he hopes to get his side to earn automatic promotion to the Premier League.

The Ipswich Town boss is keen to bring in a striker and the club have been considering several options.

Gallagher was a top target and the club worked hard behind the scenes to sign him from Blackburn this month.

However, it seems the Blues have lost patience during negotiations and have moved on to other targets.

Progress over negotiations was slow and Gallagher has been reluctant to leave Blackburn in the ongoing window.

With less than two weeks left in the transfer window, Ipswich decided against any more time in trying to get a deal done for the Blackburn striker.

The club are now pursuing alternatives in their attempt to bring in a new forward for McKenna in the coming days.
