Airdrieonians manager Rhys McCabe believes that Rangers loan star Arron Lyall can play a number of positions on the pitch and will prove to be an asset for the Championship side for the rest of the season.
The Diamonds managed to rope in the 20-year-old from Rangers on Friday, though the deal is subject to SFA approval.
Rangers have been looking for a home for Lyall on loan and feel that Airdrie represent the right move this month.
McCabe, Airdrie boss, took time to reveal that Lyall has been someone their club have been trying to sign for quite some time.
Given the Rangers player’s ability to operate in multiple forward positions, McCabe believes that he will prove to be a real asset to the team.
He also thinks that Airdrie are getting a player who is hungry to play competitive football.
“We’ve been trying for a long time to get Arron in, I think he can bring real quality to the team”, McCabe told his club’s official website.
“He can play in a number of the forward positions and I think he’ll be an asset to the squad.
“He’s hungry and he wants to play competitive first-team football, which I think we’ve shown we can offer.
“We’re thrilled to have him, and we’d like to thank Dave McCallum and the staff at Rangers for making it smooth and sorting it quickly.”
Though the 20-year-old has featured in just one first-team game for the Glasgow side, he has been on the bench for their Europa League matches as well as Champions League qualifiers.
