Celtic target Hakon Valdimarsson is now the subject of offers from Aston Villa and FC Copenhagen during this month’s transfer window, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The 22-year-old goalkeeper was a standout performer for Swedish outfit Elfsborg last season as they pushed Malmo all the way in the Allsvenskan title race.

Valdimarsson managed to keep 14 clean sheets in 29 games last season and is now the centre of attention for several European outfits.

Celtic are admirers of Valdimarsson and it has been suggested they are looking at a possible swoop.

Bhoys boss Brendan Rodgers wants to bring in a young goalkeeper at Celtic Park and he has his eyes set on the 22-year-old.

However, Celtic now risk missing out on Valdimarsson as Aston Villa and Copenhagen have made a move for him.

Aston Villa have made a bid in excess of €2m and Copenhagen have submitted a bid in the region of €1.7m.

It has been suggested that the Swedish outfit have not agreed to any deal for Valdimarsson and all eyes will be on Celtic to see whether they will step up their interest in the goalkeeper.
