Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel is coy on his side’s interest in Newcastle United defender Kieran Trippier.

The Bavarians are looking to bring in a right-back during this month’s transfer window and Trippier is on their radar.

With Newcastle wrestling with how to bring players in while staying on the right side of the Premier League’s financial rules, it has been suggested they could offload players they would ideally like to keep, such as Trippier.

Tuchel however is not about to confirm or deny his side’s interest in the Newcastle defender.

He insists that even if Bayern Munich are not successful in signing a full-back then it will not affect what they are aiming for this season.

“I won’t talk about names because I wouldn’t want that either”, Tuchel said via Sky Deutschland.

“The positions are clearly defined, but even if nothing else happens, we will not deviate from our goals.”

Bayern Munich have already added to their English contingent this month by signing Eric Dier from Tottenham Hotspur.

Trippier knows both Dier and Harry Kane from his time at Spurs.
